Riding sheep is like Living Life

Riding sheep is like life. You get pumped up in the chute for an exciting ride. You come out (sometimes off kilter). Sometimes you can pull yourself back right, and sometimes you fall off and have to look for the next ride. Isn't it that way in life. Some days you wake up and everything goes just right. Your sheep runs in a straight line like a bullet, you stay in the middle and make the buzzer. Then other days you wake up, your head hurts, you get started, you come out tilted to the side you can't correct yourself, and you hit the ground (sometimes hard), eat a little dirt and think "Wow, I'm glad that one's over!"

Riding sheep is difficult. There is tons of pressure to be good. And the competition is tough. Does that sound like your life? It does mine. Sometimes we put a lot of extra stress on ourselves to be the best at what we do, and we forget that it needs to be fun too.

Life can be stressful, but you just have to breathe through those moments.

The Round Night of the Finals

We rode tonight of the first night of the National Junior Bullriders Finals. A total of 22 Mutton Busters rode. And of those 9 made the whistle. We weren't one of those tonight, but tomorrow night is a different story!

Pictures---

lining up for grand entry

It is powerful when you have 100 kids under 20 kneeing a praying for their friend to have a safe ride.

The chute gate opened, and that was the last shot I could take! Sorry.

He did buck off. He did not make the 6 seconds tonight. But we have another shot at it tomorrow!

The Road to the Finals

Warning. This will be tons of pictures!!!

We are in Oklahoma for the National Junior Bullriders Finals!!!!!!!!!!!

We are here to WIN it!

Doesn't he look so ready??!!

We stopped in St Louis MO to see the Gateway to the West. It was Very Very cool!

We then stopped at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield MO. They even have a live alligator inside the store!

The trip to Shawnee was successful. Then yesterday we went to the National Cowboy Museum. It was so past cool!!! I loved it. Below was my best shot of the day!

Infront of the National champion Hall of fame wall. It was such a fun day!!!

And just one more picture. This last one is Littlest infront of the Jim Shoulders Exhibit. He was so excited about seeing all of the buckles, saddles, and Native American items in the museum.

Rodeo Dreams

Last night Jimmy had a dream. Not a bad dream, but as he was asleep I heard him in his room saying "outside boys!"

Cute, I know! He is thinking about rodeo in his sleep. It is the first thing that he thinks about in the morning!

Cowboy Casanova

Just a picture of a current Cowboy Casanova!!!! He's eying the cowgirls warming up their ponies. Usually when we get to a rodeo his girlfriends come to get him. And when I say girlfriends I do mean plural! Their ages range from 2 to 18.

In this photo he's scoping out his next victim!!! He is SUCH a cowboy!!

We went on a trail ride today...since we had no rodeos this weekend. Jimmy's horse, Copper, was ponied by Tax Day (his dad's horse). It was a ton of fun. It also was a ton of HOT!!!!

Working on it

Hey all. We have been working hard all year practicing. And the result!!!! Jimmy will be riding in the National Junior Bullrider's Finals in Shawnee, Oklahoma in November!!

We have begun a serious hunt for Sponsorships for Jimmy's trip out West. He is very excited about the trip!

Today was Jimmy's first day of school. A sad day for me as his mom. (Please note in this picture he is wearing shorts, however he wanted to wear boots and his cowboy hat too, but I wouldn't let him!)

Price's arena

Well, rodeo season has started. We have had 2 events so far this year, and many more to come I'm sure.

Yadkin Valley Youth Association's First rodeo was in April, and Jimmy smoked both of his sheep. He's been practicing on one of the ponies here at the farm, and is trying to master barrels. We will see.

Last night he rode at Price's Arena. Scoring an 80 point ride and coming in 2nd. He's planning on winning the mutton bustin' buckle at Price's. And once his mind is set, it's gonna happen! (I just hope he stays safe and wins his entry money back.) I missed filming the ride last night. But is was great, it even included the sheep falls and rolling over him. He didn't get hurt, because he's a cowboy!!

Heating up his rope.

Getting it on his mind!

Checking out the rides for the night!
